Within 90 days of arriving in Korea, you must apply for an alien registration card at your corresponding immigration office. Since the alien registration card acts as a form of identification while living in Korea, it is very important to do so in a timely manner. Please refer to the required documents below.
In the case that you do not apply for the alien registration card, depending on how much time has elapsed, you may be fined between 200,000 won to 10,000,000 won.

- Copy of passport
- 1 photo with white background (3×4cm)
- Application fee: 30,000 won
- Language education center certificate of enrollment (receive at the office)
- Proof of residence (dorm, studio apartment, "gosiwon", real estate contract, etc)
* In case the contract is not in your name, a confirmation of residence form is also needed.
Korean language students (D-4-1) who have been studying for more than 6 months, and received permission to engage in extra-curricular activities, are allowed to work no more than 20 hours per week. After any notice of violation, the study abroad qualifications may be cancelled. Please refer to the required documents below.

In the case of changing residence, you must notify either the Immigration office or your district office within 14 days.
If you fail to do so, you can be fined a minimum of 100,000 won to 1,000,000 won.
In the case of change in sojourn, you must notify the Immigration office within 14 days.
If you fail to do so, you can be fined from 100,000 won to 1,000,000 won.
